A Tale of Two Rides× 14.05.2016 Since the opening of Bike Gallery in late 2010, we have hosted a Saturday morning shop ride to ride, chat and drink an unhealthy amount of coffee. Originally this consisted of a single ride down Beach Rd. Now, we have expanded this to have two regular routes every saturday morning, one down to Mordialloc and the other being a tour of the Northern Hills. Both rides leave the shop at 7am returning by 10am at which point lattes and long blacks are served while the tales of the day’s riding are recounted and the latest Giro stage is recapped. The original “Hubbards Ride”The tongue in cheek Hubbards ride is a veritable classic of Bike Gallery cycling. The ride leaves store and meanders its way down to Mordialloc via Burnley boulevard and Williams Rd. The pace would be described best as social except for the all important Mordialloc sprint, where we wait and regroup while the winner gets to enjoy their bragging rights. Coming into Camberwell there is also the prestigious Burke Rd Hill to climb before a slow roll into the shop.To see the route that the shop ride takes feel free to visit this strava route here. The Hills RideAn altogether different ride the BG hills ride isn’t for the feint of heart. It snakes it’s way north through to Nutfield up some lesser known but beautiful roads. After that there is a KOM point at the top of Flat Rock Rd before we regroup so that everybody has a chance to catch their breaths. The ride is definitely of a challenging difficulty but it is also the perfect chance to stretch the legs and build some form while chasing the mountain goats up every incline. Throughout winter the hills ride will continue with the high intensity helping to stave off the cold weather. This and the latest cold weather kit selections from Q36.5, Pedla and MAAP will help to keep winter at bay each Saturday morning. The strava segment for the hills ride can be found here.We encourage everybody to try and get down for a great morning of riding and coffee. See you on Saturday!
