Is it a Bird? Is it a Plane? Bike Gallery welcomes Mosaic× 29.05.2017 In 1964 a new aeroplane took to the skies. Compared to those that came before it this one was faster, sleeker and lighter. The Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird was designed in the midst of the cold war, where every advantage no matter how expensive was pursued. To create an aircraft that could fly at altitudes more than twice the height of commercial flight and three times the speed of sound, Titanium was utilised. Generally prohibitive because of costs, Titanium offered tangible advantages with lower weight and greater heat resistance than alternative materials. During its 35 year service career the Blackbird was never lost to enemy action and more than fifty years on since its first flight, it remains the fastest manned aircraft to date.Bike Gallery is proudly partnering with Mosaic Bicycles. Their titanium bikes are renowned for their ride quality and peerless fabrication. They are experts in both Steel and Titanium and manufacture bespoke road, mountain, cyclocross and gravel bikes. Our first custom frame is the RT1-d, this is their top of line Titanium bike made with future proof through axle discs. We decided to honour the heritage of the Blackbird with a sleek black paint scheme with a raw finish rear triangle. Our first stock frame is the RT-2. It showcases their etched finish over a satin titanium base which we think is a classic Mosaic look.Part of the beauty of a boutique Mosaic is the flexibility you have both in terms of frame and paint options.
