BG races to early success in 2012×

Summer for most involves Sunday sessions, music festivals and time at the beach.  However for those who happen to love cycling, it means a whole lot of racing!  Bike Gallery has been represented at a number of events over the summer months including (but not limited to) the Royal Saxon, Boutique, SKCC crits and even the 12 hour gravity race in Bright, with success at all venues!

The dynamic duo of Brett Kellett and Dan (I'm not that fit, i've been in India looking for my spiritual guru) Strauss paired up for the Gravity 12-Hour race in Bright.  With tough competition, the two set out with the goal of achieving a podium result.

As it turned out, the two managed to streak away from the rest of the competion managing to pull off the win both consistantly lapping the 13.5km course with times varying from 44 to 46 minutes.  It was a terrific result.

Bike Gallery rider Nicole Justice (who is signed for Holden Women's Cycling Team for 2012) managed to pull off an impressive result in a men's B grade road race in Warragul. Riding away from the bunch on the final climb of the race, Nicole held on to claim the win for Bike Gallery and was reported as "a deserved victory; a first by a female rider in B grade at the Warragul Cycling Club for a very long time." (WCC Race Report)

Last week was the annual St Kilda Cycling Club Teams Time Trial.  The competition consisted of the Victorian Institute of Sport, Drapac Cycling Team, o2 Networks and various other strong Melbourne based teams.  With nothing to lose the Bike Gallery had team in matching skinsuits wouldn't look out of place at the Tour de France TTT!

Racing over 12 laps, the BG team of Dan (a holiday in India is a great place for secret km's) Strauss, Nick Bien, Fergus Sully and Cam McDonald powered home to achieve 3rd place behind the VIS and o2 Networks.  Rewarded with thousands of dollars ($75) prize money in hand, a trip to Boutique is definitely on the cards!

All other results obtained from after hour functions are best discussed face to face over an Axil Coffee!
